We have chased and succeeded in catching every species of salmon with Fly's in Chignik; including fresh and saltwater coho, chum, humpies, sockeye, and king salmon in the Chignik River. Sockeye fishing with six weight rods led us to entertainment we never dreamt of, watching grown men in waders dancing in the river attempting to keep the fish from swimming between their legs and jumping wildly on the other side of them. Fishing just plain out of control is a great site to witness and experience. Sight fishing saltwater coho ranks with the best, visually sighting large schools and watching fifty bright silvers race each other to get to the fly first. Watching a thirty-pound king dart up and take a fly as its being retrieved and witnessing the ensuing battle, as a ten weight rod doubles over time and again while a nervous fisherman hopes to land the fish of a lifetime. Now that's a Chignkik Bay Adventures definition of fun.

This chrome bright 26-pound king took Dave Oldfield's hand-tied "Don King" special fly and the fight was on. When the kings get really aggressive is when we like to throw fly's at them. The fish let us know when the time is right. Some days it never stops.

The wide range of opportunity to fly fish Chignik comes down to the not- so-simple decision of what species to catch, and when to fit it in with the wide variety of fishing opportunities available.

Jerry Fish took this bright 40lb buck on a gray day when the fish would not quit biting. It was a tremendous battle for this accomplished fisherman and his largest king to date on a fly.

Fly-fishing Alaskan Coho is world renowned, and Chignik River coho in September ranks with the best anywhere. Our fish average over ten pounds and are very aggressive to fly's. It is a fantastic experience to feel the adrenalin surge and the excitement of the battle take over when a 10-15 pound Coho latches on for a battle.

We have exceptional Char fishing for trout enthusiasts, as vast numbers exist in both fresh and saltwater. In the river they feed behind the spawning salmon and are very aggressive as they are voracious feeders. The trout range from one to four pounds, six and up are trophies. It is great fun on light tackle to spend an afternoon with the Char or Dolly Varden.
